Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Episode 4: The Whole World Is Watching
Episode 4 sees our main and supporting cast being forced to make decisions that will define where they stand, and how far they are willing to go. With the terrorist Flag Smasher leader Karli Morgenthau becoming more and more zealous in her beliefs (and those belfis being reflected in her ‘explosive’ actions), the small cadre of “my enemy of my enemy” must decide what to do with her as a response.
From the outset, Zemo believes in the brute force approach, ending all lines and memories of Super Soldiers. Bucky doesn’t hold an adamant belief, and Sam wants to use the olive branch method: which the latter nearly works if not for the extremely poorly timed arrival of John Walker.
Speaking of defining, this episode defines Walker’s zealousness to be “Captain America'' as well; given the chance to take the Super Soldier Serum, he does so, believing it will give him the edge to finally have the approval he believes he deserves donning the Shield. Before taking it however his partner Lamar leaves him with now hallowed words: “Power just makes a person, more themselves, right?” In the climax of the episode, Lamar is killed by Karli, who escapes after the killing. Walker purses after her but ends up catching one of her goons out in public. The show ends with the battle enraged Walker murdering the man in front of a crowd, all with phones out, recording the massacre. It is the first time we see on screen the Shield of Captain America be covered in blood.
